4 Career Paths to Find While Working at a Summer Camp Image via Pixabay.com Movies might make it seem as though camp counselors are only supposed to escort the kids from one activity to the next and make sure they donât get hurt, but there is much more to the job than that. Youâll be tasked with giving your campers a constant balance of education and fun. In some cases, this means working with other counselors to create lesson plans full of activities that will appeal to multiple ages. As a camp counselor, you will be able to practice presenting education to children in an energetic manner that will make them want to learn. Your sense of creativity and patience will be tested as you come to realize there are several different learning styles that your lessons should cater to. Some students will learn through hands-on approaches, and others will grasp concepts just by listening. If you find that you can recognize these learning styles in your campers and educate them with ease, then a career in teaching might be right for you. Food service The kitchen of a summer camp is home to some unique and delicious recipes, from roasted tomato soup to sâmores campfire cones. Working as a line cook at a summer camp will put your culinary skills to the test, and you might discover a hidden love for the food service industry. Image via Pixabay.com Cooking at a summer camp will expose you to a sort-of restaurant environment youâll be serving a large mass of people, each with different accommodations that need to be met. Youâll have to keep food allergies in mind if you offer recipe ideas. Step away from what you think you would enjoy eating, and consider what the majority would enjoy. This is where your creativity will come in handy. A summer camp is the perfect place to experiment with those fun kidsâ recipes you find on Pinterest, or any ideas you have of your own! Just as a manager in a restaurant must do, youâll have to ensure that the campers have everything they need for their meal and that you have enough for everyone. You should be able to calmly take care of any problems that a camper might find with their food. Working in a camp kitchen will teach you plenty of management skills that youâll be able to carry into a future food service career. Environmentalism If youâre one with nature, you could take on a job as a trip leader at an outdoor camp. A trip leader, as you might guess, âleads groups on expeditions, trips, and outdoor experiences, usually for extended periods,â according to the American Camp Association. Youâll get to teach campers about nature as you experience it in real time, and the job might peak your interest in an environmental science career. Being a trip leader will give you a chance to share your love of nature with other people. Plus, if you would like to know more about the environment, what better way than to live in it for a few weeks? Plan a boating trip on the river for your campers, and observe some of the fish along the way. Schedule a hike through the woods to check out all the different plants. Youâll be surprised at what you can learn from looking at how nature lives. Image via Pixabay.com We live in a world where the environment is often taken for granted. Adventuring through the great outdoors might inspire you to do better. As a trip leader, you might see yourself pursuing studies in environmental sciences like botany, biology, ecology, or zoology. By the age of six girls may be intellectually deferring to their male peers - Tutor Hunt Blog
By the age of six girls may be intellectually deferring to their male peers By the age of six girls may be intellectually deferring to their male peers By the age of six girls may be intellectually deferring to their male peersPrimary schools A group of prominent US researchers have revealed the disheartening statement that school girls as young as only six are beginning to doubt their own academic potential. The Journal of Science, in their most recent issue, have published this finding based on a study of 400 children. The initial phase of the study focused on five year olds, and showed how both girls and boys did not differentiate between genders in terms of how they saw each other (and themselves) academically. The category actually used was titled `really really smart` - an infantalized phrase that the children would use to award each other. At the age of five the children in the study were awarding both boys and girls equally, but by the age of six, the girls were actually putting more boys into the praiseworthy group, and selecting less of their own gender. The study itself, conducted last year, presented the children with many differing kinds of thought experiments. One of them took the form of a story, describing a character who was `really, really smart.` The story went on to list the many clever things the character did, without ever stating their gender. Once the story was finished the children were shown a picture with four different characters, two boys and two girls, and were asked to decide which one of them they thought was the protagonist of the story. The results of this simple test were very interesting: when conducted on five year olds, 75% of girls chose a female character, and 75% of the boys chose a male character. Equality and self confidence - perhaps we all have a lot to learn from this young age group! This equitable panacea seems to be short lived however, for when the same test is performed on six year olds the boys are largely unchanged in their choice, but more than half of the girls now chose a man as the protagonist. Another test involved two groups of children playing a board game. The games were actually identical, but they had significantly different branding. One board game was described as `for children who are really, really smart,` while the other was described as `for children who try really, really hard.` A subtle distinction it may seem, but one that children, at this critical period of language receptivity, will discern with keen acuity. The study showed that, while six and seven year old girls said they enjoyed the board game `for children who try really, really hard` as much as boys did, they did not enjoy the game for `really smart` children as much as their male counterparts. The team who conducted the study - which consisted of academics from the Universities of Illinois, Princeton, and New York - stated that gender stereotypes were beginning to show from a surprisingly young age. How would children pick up on these stereotypes? The answer must be from a myriad of sources, the most prominent of which would likely be their parents, teachers, other children, and all varieties of media. At the age of six children are more likely to be watching cartoons than real life tv drama. Many of these cartoons adhere to fairly tale like stereotypes - there may be a damsel in distress, there may be a group set out to save her, or overcome some kind of challenge, and that group will likely be led by a male figure. This certainly might lead children to ascribe problem solving to boys. Prof Andrei Cimpian, from the University of Illinois and one of the researchers, said that `young kids are exposed to the cultural notion that genius is more likely a male than a female quality.` The truth is that the very notion of female creativity and genius has been problematic throughout history. Few people would know who Ellis, Curror and Acton Bell are. In 1846 the three Bront sisters felt compelled to adopt these pseudonyms, with specifically masculine first names, to elude the contemporary prejudice levelled against female writers. George Elliot took her pen name to ensure that her writings would be taken seriously, since the prevailing view was that women were only capable of writing lighthearted romances. While almost everyone knows the name of Felix Mendelssohn - few are aware of the great music his sister also composed. Most of her opus remained unplayed and certainly unpublished more than a century after her death - a female composer was somehow incongruous; and the words of her father, writing to her in 1820, express the sentiments of the times: `Music will perhaps become his (i.e. her brother`s) profession, while for you it can and must be only an ornament` Many would say that these are examples from the distant past - that we have made great strides in equality. The case of Elena Ferrante, the great contemporary Italian writer, suggests otherwise however. This Italian Novelist, who has written a series of excellent books, but choses to shun the limelight, has led many (including literary critics) to claim that she is in fact a man - since only a masculine mind could have created such works. 3 years ago0Add a Comment
Sample Tutor Contracts
Sample Tutor ContractsThese sample tutor contracts are used to enhance the teaching experience. They can be used by a tutor who is working for a private company or a private tutoring agency. These contracts help to create the teacher-student relationship in a positive way. They can be used to decide how to approach private tutoring or set a limit on tuition fees.A tutor can create these contracts on his own or through an agency. When a tutor creates his own contract, he can choose from the numerous options offered by some tutoring agencies. He can also create one that incorporates the terms of his other contracts. This can be a good option for tutors who want to offer more services to their students. It can also be a very effective way to get the most out of their business.A tutor who is working for a private tutoring company should definitely use a sample contract for the first contract. These contracts make it easy for students to negotiate tuition fees. They also include the time and the formulae for calculating fees. They should be written in clear language that students can understand.Tutors can also create sample contracts for individual students. Some tutors will make these agreements available online for free. Other tutors may charge a fee for these agreements but this is usually a small amount. When a tutor creates his own sample contract, he should read the instructions carefully. He should then keep copies of the original contracts. Then he should send these copies to the tutors who he has agreed to work with. This can help him assess the writing quality of the contract and determine whether or not the students are satisfied with it.In addition to sample contracts, some tutors will also give students and parents a chance to give feedback on the contracts. The tutors can use this feedback to improve the contract and add more services. Some tutors may even revise their contracts based on the feedback that they receive.A tutor must always consider the go als of his clients. This can help to set boundaries for how much money will be spent on tuition, the length of time the tutor will spend with the student, and the number of hours he will be responsible for.

However, in order to get the best assistance from the online courses, the tutor should have the aptitude to present the material in an easy way. There are various aspects involved in the composition of the final exam paper.A Physics course syllabus will be different from a chemistry course syllabus and so is the case with every syllabus in a discipline. In these fields, the elements that form the basis of the course work will vary. Students will be provided with the right technical information so that they may progress to a point where they are comfortable in reading and writing in this field. The physical parameters of chemistry will depend on the course curriculum and so, a tutor sho uld not take too much time to explain the fundamental concepts. He must therefore understand the fundamental concepts at a very basic level. The knowledge that he has acquired will be used for imparting his experience in the field. It is not possible to teach every aspect of the subject to the students without giving them appropriate inputs. Since there are various subjects like pre-college level, college level and high school level in this discipline, a student must get the help of a professional online tutor. This person will know the science better than any teacher.Physics is a purely descriptive science. It does not attempt to offer any predictions of what may happen in the future. There are theories and applications of physics, but it does not attempt to look at the future as an ultimate reality. For all practical purposes, the student should understand what is meant by physical laws in the theories.A good set of the calculations are important to help the student with the concen tration of specific components of chemistry. These calculations will include the properties of the components, their reactions and so on. Thus, the student will be able to calculate and arrive at the most applicable values for a particular element in order to arrive at an accurate figure. There are different ways to compute ph calculations. They may be chosen depending on the subject that the student is taking. A ph calculation is given when there is a substitution between two known quantities. Students will be faced with the need to know all these concepts in order to comprehend the syllabus.
